About AI Physio Club
WELCOME
Greetings and welcome to AI PhysioClub, an AI for Public Health project generously seed funded by the University of East London, and drawing from previous research funded by Sport Singapore. Our aim is to complement NHS Physiotherapy through artificial intelligence combined with social support, delivering a bespoke Physiotherapy experience to support NHS staff, patients, carers, and families on their paths to better mobility.
As we are patients and carers ourselves, we acknowledged a challenge, in that other apps and digital resources fall short in providing crucial day-to-day contact for patients and carers, while Physiotherapists are left without useful insights into their patients' at-home experiences, in some cases for several months at a time as NHS services remain under stress from the pandemic.
OUR VIEW ON UNICORNS
There seemed to be no middle ground between big profit-orientated apps and good, old-fashioned queuing for an appointment to see a Physio so we decided to work on developing that middle ground, in that AI can support patients and the NHS if its orientated towards bridging the daily gap between Physios, coaches and the people who rely on their guidance and support in a sustainable way. We are looking to do a job well done for the community, not so focused on unicorns. We are also actively seeking grants to develop AI PhysioClub further for other specific conditions and to implement it into a variety of NHS contexts where the software can be white-labelled and/or tailored to suit the needs of a given practice.
HOW AI PHYSIOCLUB WORKS:
There are 3 modes:
- Practise together in a group: We are building a global rota of mobility, stress-relief and stretching classes (currently volunteer) staffed by specialist trainers for a variety of conditions including Alzheimers, Parkinsons, Diabetes, Low-back pain and Osteoarthritis.
- One-to-one Remote Support: Going beyond the clinic, extending bookable continuous support to patients from the comfort of their homes.
- Home Alone: Practise with our AI while you wait for your friends to turn up, just like kids do when they play video games. This feature alone is a great way to leverage AI to help one improve mobility, measure progress and stay motivated to practise more frequently.
JOIN US ON THIS COMMUNITY-BASED, RESEARCH-DRIVEN ODYSSEY:
We extend a heartfelt invitation to join us on this journey that has emerged from community-based research, supported by the University of East London and previous research funded by Sport Singapore. With the potency of AI and the fortitude of community-based research, we envision a future where Physiotherapy is not just more accessible but is also a more sustainably epic experience for all.
